Development begins with the job you are doing today and how well you are doing it.
We want people at Reed Elsevier to succeed at every stage of their careers. But to do so they need constant support and constant challenge.
We provide this through our PDP – an ongoing process of assessment and goal-setting, which is put in place to support everyone who works in our company.
We think this works better than a standard once-a-year performance review. Unlike a lot of companies that focus on performance management systems, forms and technologies, we focus on candid feedback and quality conversations between an employee and his or her manager. The goal isn’t to complete a form; it is to ensure that every employee knows the answers to three key questions:
1. What’s expected of me?
2. How am I doing?
3. How do I succeed?
Managers and employees are given the time and tools to address these questions candidly and regularly.
Through these conversations, individuals receive valuable feedback and work together with their managers to chart a development course that suits them and the company.
